Welcome to DIY Dames! My name is Alex, and this is me!;
I'll be posting here at least once a week with some DIY Ideas, inspirations, DIY's I have found and love and of course some DIY's for you to try out for yourselves with step by step instructions.
With all of my posts I'll make sure to list materials, where to find them, costs of materials and some pictures and price comparisons for store bought items that are similar. I love making new things and saving money, which is pretty much the definition of DIY after you break down the acronym. So let's get started with something simple today!!DIY Twine Vase
I found this vase on Etsy (Right Here!) for $10.00. Pretty inexpensive but why not upcycle some old things and still save money?? Here's what my version of the twine vase ended up looking like:
I loved the twine idea, I just wanted more color, so I went ahead and bought some purple twine to add some color to the room. In total this vase cost me approximately $2.50, That's a savings of about $7.50 not even counting shipping costs. So here are the steps to getting an inexpensive and gorgeous twine vase! Super simple;
Materials:
- Dollar store Vase ($1.00)
- Glue Gun and Glue (Also got at the Dollar Store aprox. $2.00)
- Twine from Michaels ($3.00)
Total cost of materials will be about $6.00, but the amount of twine and glue you get for the price will last you at least 3, maybe 4 vases so total cost will still be aprox $2.50 for materials used per vase (dependent on the size of your vase of course).
Step 1: Wrapping your Vase
I got so wrapped up in wrapping I forgot to take a picture of the very beginning! Sorry!
Start off by adding small amount of hot glue to the base of your vase (that rhymes! ha!) and then from there attach the end of your twine. Wrap the vase a few times tightly before adding about a one inch section of hot glue to hold the wrappings in place.
Step 2: Completion!
Continue to wrap your vase while stopping every third or fourth wrap to add the one inch section of hot glue to make sure your twine stays in place. Once you have reach the top all that is left to do is glue off the end. You can go back now and also make sure to adjust the twine a little bit if it moved during the process. Honestly, that's it! Super simple right?? The only thing left to do is put some pretty flowers in your vase, you can even customize it more by adding a bow or a ribbon tie of some sort, completely up to you!
I hope you all enjoyed this super simple DIY, let me know in the comments below if you want to see something specific and I'll see what kind of magic I can work up for you all. Have a wonderful rest f your day!!
